personal discipleship values |
If we want a model for our personal Christian values, there is only one place to go – the Bible. Follow what the Bible teaches and we’ve got it right. To help us on our way, though, we realised that there was a need to draw particular attention to some specific aspects of the Christian life – issues where, in contemporary society, we can come under strong pressure to neglect Christian teaching.
Our vision for these discipleship values is to equip our members to live a kingdom focused life that impacts the present and builds the future through 8 core biblical values that we believe produce followers who will be "fruitfull for every good work!" 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
We have identified eight of these personal discipleship values to guide us in Reading Vineyard Church as we develop and define our culture.
Here’s a helpful mnemonic for remembering the values; it does just that – it focuses our attention on some really important issues:
Financial giving
Outward focus
Commitment
Urgency
Spiritual growth
Accountability
Integrity
Deeper relationships – with God and each other
Feedback
We are currently running a major new programme across Reading Vineyard Church to teach and discuss these personal discipleship values and to encourage everyone to fully embrace them. If you have been part of this programme, we'd love to hear about the impact it has had on you. If you would like to let us know about this, please use this confidential feedback form.
