Visitors
Visitors who come along to Reading Vineyard Church are greeted by the Welcome Team, a group of highly committed, friendly people who aim to make newcomers feel at ease and included. These initial connections are built upon through phone calls made to those who have elected to leave their contact details with the church.
The Welcome Team
The Welcome Team form a critical part in encouraging new people to “taste and see”, and try Reading Vineyard Church, with a view to finding out if God wants them to settle there. Relatively new people who are feeling comfortable about making Reading Vineyard Church their spiritual home are befriended by others involved in the area of church life which looks after the membership side of things.
Pastoral Care
1. The Pastoral Care Team
2. The Homegroup/ Smallgroup Leaders
Pastoral Care Team
Pastoral Care Team members proactively link-up with those who are, either, relatively new to the church and still deciding on a particular Homegroup to attend, or for some specific reason, have found it difficult to get involved in a weekly group. Reasons for this include, issues relating to personal circumstances, for example child care issues or seasons in a persons life, like university, college, geographical moves with work etc.
Homegroup Leaders
Homegroup Leaders are individuals, or couples who provide care for the members within the home groups they run. They work with a leadership team, in the group comprised of group members.
Small groups are the heart of the church. We want to be more, as a church body, than simply a large group of people who collect together for a Sunday service. Our small groups provide an opening to meet with friends within an environment of consistent regular care.
During a typical evening, you might worship together, pray for each other and possibly have a time of sharing or teaching. An outward focus is also encouraged! Small groups are encouraged to have regular involvement in church community projects.
It is our prayer that all will try to be involved in a small group, but since we understand that belonging is a process, we aim to try and provide pastoral care for whatever stage a person is at when they come through the doors of the church. In addition, although there are specific individual functions happening, all the components of the overall pastoral care operate together. We are aiming for a sense of a cohesive group of teams, sharing relevant information and resources for the ultimate benefit of all involved.
