What is Prayer
Prayer is, in essence, talking with God, and spans both corporate prayer and individual prayer.

Holy Space
The Sunday morning prayer meeting has, at its centre, the purpose of coming to God, with thanksgiving in our hearts, in order to petition Him regarding aspects of church life and outworking of His purposes in our community through Reading Vineyard Church.

Where? Bulmershe Leisure Centre
When?
9:30am to 10:30am and 5:30pm to 6:15pm

What the Bible Says

Please meditate on the following scriptures.  They capture the heart of intercession - gratitude, humility and love.

"And in their prayers for you their hearts go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you." 2 Corinthians 9:14 (ANIV)

"I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers." Ephesians 1:16 (ANIV)

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18 (ANIV)

"In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy." Philippians 1:4 (ANIV)

"I thank God, whom I serve, as my fore-fathers did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers." 2 Timothy 1:3 (ANIV)

"I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers" Philemon 1:4 (ANIV)

Guidelines

I commend to you some guidelines for this prayer time, which I trust all those participating in it will determine to respect.

1. Let us guard our hearts and be certain when we attend the meeting that we are “FOR” Reading Vineyard Church and the leadership team.
2. It is anticipated that attendees of the prayer time will also be attending one of the Sunday services, and will be committed to the church
3. Personal prayer matters or agendas are not encouraged, and the Sunday morning meeting is definitely not the
forum for these.  Other times should be carved out in our lives to seek God for such  needs / experiences.
4. The Apostle Paul was clear about the purpose of intercession, saying that it is for the encouragement and edification of the body of believers. Let’s keep this to the fore and not allow prayer to become gossip, or criticism cloaked in spiritual language.

Each week a list of prayer topics will be available. Whilst this will not be exhaustive or exclusive, I believe having it in front of us for each week is essential for keeping focused and honouring the purpose of the Sunday morning meeting.
