What's going on?
The youth of Reading Vineyard Church are getting together in a bid to raise £3000.
Why?
Richard Welche and his wife, Linda, are missionaries in Albania. One of their mission fields is Cuke - an extremely deprived gypsy camp. Currently, those living in Cuke have no water facilities or sanitation. Further Facilities desperately need to be installed, as the residents of Cuke are living in unbearably squalid conditions. The Welches will be over-seeing construction and installation of these facilities. With the faith that God will provide financially, Richard has already contacted builders and the work is beginning. As of yet, however, there is no money to fund it….
Enter Reading Vineyard . . . .
The £3000 that we need to raise will fund the installation of the essential facilities, so that the residents of Cuke will be able to look forward to the ‘luxuries’ of clean drinking water, showers and toilets. It is hard to imagine not having such basics, but for the people of Cuke it is harsh reality. We hope to make this a thing of the past, and we hope that you will join us in raising the money that will give Cuke a future.
How can you get involved?
Raising £3000 is a big task, and will be difficult for the youth to achieve this solely by ourselves. We really need your help in raising the money, and there are many ways in which you can get involved:
• Placing money in the offering during the service (in an envelope labelled “Albania Youth Fund” so as not to get confused with the general offering). Any amount, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, you can place money in the donation box at the Information Zone.
• Sponsoring us for our weird and wonderful events (we’ll let you know what we’re up to!)
• Enlisting our services. We’re willing to do odd jobs such as gardening, clearing up, babysitting… whatever you can think of, in return for donations to our fund! If you’re interested, sign up on the available sheet and we’ll get back to you, or alternatively speak to us directly!
We really appreciate your help; whatever you can offer is a valuable contribution. We’re so passionate about this, and have absolute faith that the money will be raised!
How are we doing?
So far, we’ve had a sponsored 24-hour handcuffing, 60-ho ur silence, bungee jump, and a spot of gardening! Watch this space, there’s much more to come!
Keep track of our progress as we approach our target of £3000…
For further details on any of the above, please contact either Paul Lowe, or text us on 07821 590048.
We are also looking to raise the money to take a Fire engine to Albania. We currently have raised enough to buy it but now need to cover the cost of transporting it there.
