Overview of Programme
Tailored to suit the individual:
Each Internship will be tailor made, to nurture personal and spiritual
growth. We are all individuals, and at different stages on our journey
with God, our understanding of who He is and what He has done for us. The
essence of Internship is to nourish and develop gifts and passions, and
also to challenge the intern to explore other areas. The key components
are character, service and mission; to grow in your identity in God and
discover the purposes He has for you. Through spiritual disciplines we
will train you to nourish intimacy with God, encourage openness to Him and
accountability to others. We will encourage you to follow the example of
Jesus’ servant life style and give you opportunity to serve
practically. Through mission you will develop a pattern for life and set
an example for others to follow. During the year you will be discipled and
disciple others and will be given many opportunities to reach out to others
both at home and abroad. The individual needs to approach the internship
with no ego, ready to serve and ready to learn and re-learn.
The Internship: nuts & bolts:
All who attend the internship will be asked to keep a spiritual diary,
charting personal growth in all areas of understanding. A log will also be
kept, detailing all activities & events that the individual has taken
part in. All involved will also be encouraged to read the whole Bible and
a number of relevant publications. There will be opportunities to study
Vineyard Bible Institute (VBI) modules.
The internship is not an academic exercise, although Individuals may be
asked to comment in writing as an aid to furthering their learning. The
internship will be very much 'hands-on', it is vocationally driven &
structured. The course will include a comprehensive range of
studies/teaching and hands on practical projects in a variety of areas of
ministry enabling personal growth in trust and confidence in God. All
opportunities to serve should be seen as part of the individuals continued
growth & understanding. You will be encouraged to embrace the
disciplines that are integral to being a follower of Jesus.
When will you work?
From September to the following summer.
Hours approx 9.00 - 5.00, for two days between Monday & Friday,
Sundays and some evenings. Saturday is generally a day off. You can book
one weekend off each term and receive 2 weeks at both Christmas and Easter
as holiday.
The expectation is that you will seek 2 days a week paid employment to
support your living costs.
Where will you live?
You may need to arrange this yourself; however there are currently two
free places available. If your family live locally it is helpful that you
stay with them so that the free places can be made available to others who
are not in the same situation that you are. There may be Christian families
or friends within the church who as part of their service to the church
will put you up for the year. Alternatively you may be required to find
your own accommodation; there may be some limited assistance
